In this case though you are talking about a town, not a business. Living in Indiana for the vast majority of my life, I have seen first hand how NAFTA and granting China "Most Favored Nation" status has absolutely destroyed the manufacturing base in this country.

The biggest problem isn't the technology for emissions or drivetrain, it's all the added WEIGHT due to the safety regulations. The average vehicle's mass has increased 5 -15% with each subsequent generation since the early 1980s.

When Chrysler starts building eco-friendly cars that offset their SUVs, I'll give them the same pass I give Toyota.

You can fit 5 people into a Camry, same as a Cherokee. The comparison is valid, especially when you consider a 2-wheel drive Cherokee. Why is that version even made? At that point it is purely a poorly designed station wagon. I'd take the Camry.

So what about Toyota? They've introduced more SUVs and CUVs in the last 5 years than any other company on Earth. If you look at segment fuel economy, you'll also find that Toyota trails the comparable offerings from GM, Ford, and Chrysler in nearly EVERY segment.

What a terrible piece of reporting! First, the mileage quoted for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is for the HEMI V8 version only. The all-new 3.6L "Phoenix V6" will produce 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque while returning 23 mpg on the highway (22 for 4x4 models).
